The research project of the Laboratoire Européen Associé (LEA) INSERM entitled Emerging Antibiotic Resistance in Gram-negative Bacteria (EMergATB-Resist) led by Patrice Nordmann at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) (http://www.unifr.ch/microbiology/fr), in collaboration with Erick Denamur in IAME aimed at:
. Identify early the emergence of any antibiotic resistance trait occurring in clinically-relevant MDR Gram-negatives from worldwide origin.
. Identify further the genetic backgrounds (plasmids, clones) as well as the antibiotic resistance gene mobilization elements of MDR Enterobacteriaceae isolates spreading worldwide.
. Develop rapid diagnostic tests.
. Develop new therapeutics against carbapenemase producers.
