Research interest
My works focus on emergence of bacterial resistance in commensal flora and study of antibiotic-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. My work initially focused on carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae, with epidemiological studies to understand their spread and the characterization of a new enzyme: OXA-232. I then turned my attention to ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae in developing countries, where we were able to demonstrate a high prevalence of ESBL among Enterobacteriaceae isolated in bacteremia at Bamako University Hospital (Mali). I also worked on the Voyag-R study cohort, studying the acquisition rates and epidemiology of enterobacteria resistant to 3rd-generation cephalosporins (ESBL and pAmpC) and colistin via the mcr gene. Then, as a hospital practitioner, I also take part in studies on diagnostic tests, as well as trials on new antibiotics, in collaboration with clinicians.
